what are authorization holds?
authorization holds are small amounts of money that are never actually charged to your account. However, you may notice one of these amounts listed on your account as pending.
when you might see an authorization hold
when arranging to send a package, deckit may place a temporary authorization hold for the upfront price on your payment method. This will show up as a “pending” charge on your account’s payment method. when the package is delivered, this authorization hold is converted to a charge for the final price.
if the package shipment has been canceled or the total price is different than the upfront price in your app, the original authorization hold should be voided from your payment method. Authorization holds may take up to 2 weeks to clear depending on your bank’s processing times.

is it a pending charge?
a “pending” charge may be an authorization hold that will eventually drop off your account and won’t ever be charged. We issue authorization holds as a way to better protect against fraud that may result from unauthorized card usage. You may see an authorization hold if you recently added a new payment method, or if you haven’t used deckit in a while.
is a friend or family member using your account?
check with them if you can. They may have recently sent a package and will recognize the charge you’re seeing.
did you recently cancel a package that was to be sent?
check your deckit package history. Cancellation fees pay deckers for the time and effort they spend getting to your location.
